What a day it's been! Finally can relax and hopefully get some sleep tonight, unlike last night where I managed to only sleep three hours. I thought for sure after pub crawling it would put me right to sleep! It did until I woke up in a panic at 4a.m. thinking I had over slept, nope I was 4 hours early from my set alarm.
But who needs sleep! I am in one of the greatest most diversity cities in the world, no time to push the snooze button twice!
Today it finally became real, orientation for AHA program and classes. What a lovely group of Professors and advisors. They began off explain who and what they do. After we got to know Mary, Maggie, Martin, and Chris. We then had a few guest speakers from the London Police who were kind enough to give us the 411 about crime in London and how to stay safe and not become another target to pick pocketers. After a coffee break and another visit to a new pub for some hard cider we were back to the classroom to get a start on our first excursion, the British Museum.
WOW. What a beautiful building that continues on and on. There is not enough time in the day to see everything in the museum. But a few of us were determined to see as much as we could for the day before it became too much. The amount of history and artifacts in the museum was overwhelming to a point and had me in complete amazement. I hope to go back again and see some of the sections we had passed through. Even then I don't know if we will be able to see the entire museum for it is five stories tall and wraps around a city block. Once I have wifi on my phone I will upload some photos I was able to capture in their of the amazing historic artifacts.
Once we left the museum we went down the street and checked out one of the tourist shops, I was able to get a few goodies for myself and family members before we headed back to the dorms for quite the interesting dinner. Unfortunately the food they serve us here in the dorms does not compare to what the food is really like in London. Which is a good thing but unfortunately I will have to suck it up and sallow it down because I need to budget my money accordingly for the more fun things around here which if you didn't know there are some pretty amazing districts to see within London as well as United Kingdom.
We attempted going into Piccadilly Circus earlier tonight. I was once again in amazement with what I had been seeing. One of the largest shopping capitals in the world surrounded me as I looked from street to street. We were attempting to be super touristy and go see Big Ben and the London Eye but as we were headed down the streets one of our friends realized his oyster had gone missing, not good. The oyster is the card we use to access the tube which allows us to get from place to place pretty quickly, its the subway, or Bart of London, and its quite fun!
That about wraps up my day for now its time to try to catch up on some sleep, tomorrow it really begins 10 hours of classes all back to back.. wish me luck but for now, Cherrreo chap!
